W. Cary Edwards
The Thomas Edison State University family mourns the loss of W. Cary Edwards, a longtime supporter and advocate of the University and higher education, who died on Oct. 20 after courageously battling cancer.
Earlier this year, the School of Nursing at Thomas Edison State University was named in honor of Mr. Edwards, a distinguished community leader and public servant. During his tenure as chief counsel to New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean, Mr. Edwards was instrumental in securing the initial funding that made it possible to begin nursing education at Thomas Edison State University. In addition, he has a distinguished record of service to higher education and the State of New Jersey which includes serving as Attorney General, Chairman of the State Commission on Investigation, and a member of the New Jersey Assembly.
The Thomas Edison State University Foundation will honor Mr. Edwards at this year's 2010 Grande Ball, where the University will formally announce the naming of the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing.
At this difficult time, the University's thoughts and prayers are with the Edwards family.
