Many adult students meeting the demands of work and family find that making the financial commitment to complete their education can be a challenge. The Office of Financial Aid is ready to assist students in securing the resources they need for their education.
Access Financial Aid Handbook and Forms
Thomas Edison State University participates in a number of federal and state financial aid programs. Eligible Thomas Edison State University students may receive Pell Grants or Federal Education Loans, such as the Subsidized Stafford Loan and the Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, for courses offered by the University. Eligible New Jersey residents also may tap a variety of state grant and loan programs. Students may use state aid to meet all or part of their college costs, provided they are taking at least 12 college credits per term.
Students taking courses in the terms July 2024-June 2025 should file the 2024-2025 FAFSA, and students taking courses in the terms July 2025-June 2026 should file the 2025-2026 FAFSA. If you plan on taking courses in both years, a FAFSA must be completed for both years. Some New Jersey state grant programs adhere to specific filing deadlines. For further information on those deadlines, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Students who wish to be awarded Financial Aid for an upcoming term should have all required documentation on file two weeks before the start of the term.

Thomas Edison State University provides two versions of the College Financing Plan (CFP) formerly known as Financial Aid Shopping Sheet. The CFP is designed to help you estimate the cost of attending Thomas Edison State University during the current Academic Year, and identify potential sources of financial aid so you can easily compare Thomas Edison State University with other institutions and make an informed decision about where to attend school. This tool is provided as part of Thomas Edison State University’s commitment to the Principles of Excellence under Presidential Executive Order 13607.
The first version of the College Financing Plan is available to any prospective, applicant, or enrolled student. A second version is available to currently enrolled students via your Online Student Services account and will display detailed financial aid information if you have been awarded such.
