BA in Foreign Language

Become a culturally responsive citizen of the world with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Foreign Language from Thomas Edison State University (TESU). Enhance your global awareness and intercultural skills by studying a new language such as French, German, Spanish or Italian. Our 120-credit online degree program focuses on linguistic skills and literary appreciation while developing your ability to effectively communicate and exchange ideas across cultures — an important skill set for careers in international business, education, journalism, cultural and arts management and much more.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the BA in Foreign Language, you will be able to:

  • Present information, concepts and ideas in a foreign language to an audience of listeners or readers
  • Translate and interpret a foreign language
  • Engage in conversations or correspondence in a foreign language
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the cultural and sociolinguistic aspects of a language

Note 1: Other foreign language areas of study may be modeled after the above. The area of study must be planned with a BA degree program advisor.

Note 2: All courses applied toward the foreign language area of study are REQUIRED to be taught in that specific foreign language, not in English translation.
