BA in Theater Arts

Immerse yourself in the dynamic and creative world of theater arts. Prepare for your future as an aspiring actor, educator, director, designer, technician, playwright or dramaturg with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree program in Theater Arts from Thomas Edison State University (TESU). Developed for the needs of working adults, our 120-credit online degree program studies a variety of plays, significant playwrights and other theater artists. Examine the relationship of theater to culture in major historical periods, discover various skills and techniques for theater production and gain a broad general knowledge of traditional liberal arts disciplines.

As a graduate of our BA in Theater Arts, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the history of theater
  • Compare and contrast theatrical techniques and processes, including stagecraft and playwriting
  • Explain various forms of theater, including stage plays and monologues and their relationship to other arts, such as film and opera
